MECHANICAL ARM PROSTHESES
This type of prosthesis is the prosthesis that moves with one’s mechanical power. The shoulder movements are transmitted to the prosthesis thanks to the bandage system, which is used to transfer a force on the stump and back to the intact arm, and thus the hand part of the prosthesis is opened and closed. It can perform the functions of hand opening, closing, elbow bending and locking at a certain angle by using a 3-stage pulling mechanism in the elbow overhangs. The person’s activation of the prosthesis with his / her strength and movement provides a feeling about prosthetic movements, which is important for better control and adoption of prosthetic functions. However, this is not as easy as it is thought. It requires an intensive training period and practices with a lot of repetitions. The advantages of a mechanical prosthesis are that it has a fairly simple mechanics and is relatively affordable. The disadvantages are the partial unnatural body movements required for the control of the prosthesis and the process of getting used to the harness system.
